The belief that deadpan avant-gardism is its own reward both animates and unifies this album. Whether sincerely flattering 10cc, Pink Floyd, or something undreamt of in the philosophies of either, Gene and Dean Ween hit upon a formula that’s plastic in enough senses of the word not only to generate interesting convesations but also to comprise a few. Rating: Four pacifiers out of five.
